Eating the fondue

The technique
It is at this step that one can immediately tell the uninitiated!

The proper method is to spear the bread on the fondue fork from the white side all the way through the crust. This way, it is almost impossible to loose your bread in the fondue.

a cube of bread a bit larger than an inch on the side
A proper size piece of bread
the fork goes through the white part of the bread and penetrates the crust
Tines through the crust

Then dip the bread in the fondue, in a decisive manner, stirring a little bit, without scrapping the bottom in order to wet the bread on all its faces and to stir the fondue at the same time.

Remove the fork from the fondue, let drip for a second or two over the pot.

Now slowly twirling the fork (so that the cheese does not drip all over), bring it back to your plate, and eat as soon as the cheese is at the proper temperature (1 or 2 seconds).

Traditionnal cheese fondue forks have a round handle, long enough so as to facilitate this rotation of the fork.
