Cheese fondue is eaten with a specific type of fork. Cheese fondue forks have 3 tines (prongs), longer than on a normal fork.
Meat fondue forks definitely do not work for cheese fondue.

It is ironic that real fondue forks are no longer found, even in Switzerland (see the 4 photos at the top right and the 2 below).
Real fondue forks have three long prongs, sharp enough to break
through the crust of the bread and a round handle, not too thin
to allow to easily rotate the fork - an hereditary gesture in our
regions but learned with difficulty by others.
The only cheese fondue forks now available (4 bottom right photos) have too short and not sharp enough prongs, and are
not convenient to use. To top it off, they are also ugly!
