It is possible to add various ingredients to the cheese fondue, for example mushrooms and/or bacon. I prefer the more traditional fondues, without too many additional ingredients, but adding mushrooms is a nice option.
Avoid button mushrooms in favor of mushrooms such as chanterelles, black trumpets, boletus (porcini mushrooms) or morels.
Simply pan-fry the mushrooms in a little butter with a pinch of salt, then add them to the fondue, prepared according to the standard recipe.
